    • Godparent, in Christianity, someone who sponsors a child's baptism
    • Helicopter parent, one who pays extremely close attention to their child or children, particularly at educational institutions
    • Single parent, a parent who has never been married, especially a custodial biological parent who does not live with the other biological parent of his/her children - as distinct from a widowed or divorced parent, who is legally an "unmarried" parent; single and unmarried parents can also be adoptive parents and step-parents, as well as biological parents.
